To compensate for impacts to ±88 acres of wetlands filled in connection with the expansion of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, the North Coast Regional Council of Park Districts (NCRCPD) restored 265 acres of wetlands on parklands acquired by Lorain County Metro Parks. Collaborating with representatives of Cleveland, Lorain County MetroParks and the regulatory agencies, Envirotech and Eco-Design & Engineering, Ltd. (Eco-Design) designed mitigation wetlands, which were restored and integrated into Lorain County Metro Parks. Restored habitats included freshwater marshes, wet prairies, forested floodplain, wetland forests and uplands.
